Edward J. Rohn signed and numbered bust -

Amazing life-like bust of a banjo player by Edward J. Rohn. 10.5" tall - signed and numbered 53/7500 Beautifully done bust with no cracks -near mint condition. "This fabulous and very realistic work of art was sculpted by Edward J Rohn. He did the famous sculpture of President Truman for the White House and the Truman Library.
Rohn begins his sculptures by studying hundreds of photographs and then creates from his imagination. He works on how the subject will look from every angle, projecting the character of the 3 dimensional portrait. He first sculpts the form in modeling clay a process which takes months, to get features and expression just right. Then he makes a plaster mold of the form and pour liquid porcelain into the molds. Next he fires the piece at up to 2400 degrees fahreneheit to harden the porcelain. During this process, it is said he loses up to 30 % of his work. The pieces that survive the heat are then polished and painted in muted pastels. Rohn says he wants the eyes of his characters to be noted first and then the rest of the form. The Soul is Seen in the Eyes." Because of the fragility of this piece, to insure it gets to you safely, this will be packed in extra packing material. Thusly, shipping may be higher than what you would expect for a piece this size.                    $149.00
